Air New Zealand

I found this link via the
Bismarck Tribune...
The
Bare Essentials of Safety is a clever ad for
Air New Zealand, featuring the flight crew covered in nothing but body paint. You can find all of their ads on YouTube, on the
AirNZnothing2hide channel or on the "Nothing to Hide" website by clicking the image above..
Under My Skin by Gin Wigmore can be found on iTunes
here.
It
almost begs me to get over my fear of flight and wing it over to New Zealand.

EA Active Has Arrived

EA Active is Electronic Arts' response to the WiiFit. I reserved my copy at Gamestop about two months ago. Now that I've had a chance to use it for a few days, here's some first impressions.
The EA Active DVD comes bundled with a resistance band and a leg strap, which is used to hold a nunchuck. The leg strap feels solid and solves the problems associated with running exercises on the WiiFit. When running on the WiiFit, you have to put the Wiimote in your pocket or, if you don't have pockets, carry it in your hand. If you have loose pockets, the Wiimote stays mostly stationary and doesn't transmit your running actions, making it appear as if you aren't moving. Running works as expected in EA Active.
If it's not already connected to your Wiimote, the game prompts you to attach a nunchuck upon initial launch of the software.
I dislike the nunchuck. Maybe I wouldn't dislike it as much if it were wireless and didn't require a corded connection with the Wiimote.
Unlike the WiiFit, which lets you go at it and exercise the same activity for 10,20 or 30 minute intervals, with EA Active you choose how long you want to work out and it offers up an ordered list of exercises that last for the selected amount of time, each activity lasting about 2 minutes each. At first I didn't see the benefit of running for a minute, then doing 2 minutes of squats and then 2 minutes of fast walking, but it's starting to grow on me. You can also put together your own custom workout, and for example, select the running module 10 times in a row. That does get you twenty minutes of running, but you have to stop and hit the A button a few times to go to the next module.
EA Active focuses a lot less on balance and more on doing the exercises correctly. With the nunchuck strapped to my leg, the graphical representation on the screen is pretty accurate with what I'm really doing. If my lunge is too low, or not low enough, it lets me know. Sometimes, after an exercise, my leg is a little unsteady. The game waits for me to hold still before continuing.
EA Active is not a WiiFit killer by any means, but rather a complimentary addition to your WiiFit workout. EA Active does not record your weight on a daily basis, so even if I work out with only EA Active on a given day, I still fire up WiiFit to do the daily body test.
I wish it had the ability to play your own MP3s from the SD card. EA Active comes with a built-in soundtrack but it would be nice to work out to, say, some Aqua!
I am outta 'heah!

To 3GS or Not to 3GS?
Posted on Wed Jul 01, 2009 at or around 10:57 pm MDT
I've finally decided that I'm going to stick it out with my older, 1st Gen. iPhone.
1.) There's nothing wrong with it
2.) It has the nice metal, non-plastic-ey back
3.) I've never found 3G to be blazingly faster than EDGE (at least in my area)
And I use it frequently to control machines with VNC inside a VPN tunnel
I'll upgrade if
1.) My iPhone breaks
2.) The battery wears out, ...which makes me wonder what happened to
this chump
My battery is still going strong after 2 years of daily charging.
3.) I want a better camera
4.) I want a Tom-Tom navigation unit
5.) Peer pressure finally gets to me :)
There have been rumors of Microsoft wanting to turn their Zune into a phone. If so, I hope the company that makes
this will also make a zPhone version.

What's with all the deaths lately?
Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Billy Mays and
this little girl.
It's good to see that Pixar has not been assimilated into the Disney monolith.
Livestrong.

Yes, a
twitter client for the Commodore 64/128.
This is the most compelling reason I can think of that would justify me getting a twitter account.
